Global healthcare assistance to Guatemala
To help deliver care to Guatemalan people and minimize disparities in surgical care between low-income and high-income countries.
Partnering with communities in El Petén since 2014 · 100% tax-deductible
Why We're Here
“In a country where nearly 60% of the population lives in poverty, the constitutional right to healthcare is a promise waiting to be fulfilled.”
Aid Via Action works in partnership — not as medical tourists. Since 2014 we have built relationships with hospitals and physicians in Northern Guatemala, grounded in ethical engagement and a shared goal: care that lasts long after our teams go home.
What we do
Three initiatives, one mission — closing the gap in surgical care.
Immediate Surgical Care
We bring surgical and anesthesiology teams to Northern Guatemala to perform hernia, gallbladder, urology, and other operations for patients who otherwise could not access or afford them.
Stronger Local Healthcare
We donate operating-room equipment — with an emphasis on laparoscopic tools — and work alongside local physicians so they can deliver competent, compassionate care long after we leave.
Medical Education
We send U.S. medical students and residents to Guatemala, host Guatemalan trainees in the U.S., and build pathways into healthcare careers — sharing knowledge in both directions.
Our impact
188+ surgeries performed for patients in El Petén, Guatemala (as of June 2025).
